The countries in Europe developed their own architectural designs copying from that of the castles in other countries.
The castles have a great beginning especially France and England. They are starting from simple towers. The towers kept a basic rectangular shape. The strong keep housed all the rooms for the lord, his lady and his family and also ceremonial rooms, chapels, garderobes, fireplaces, state rooms and arsenals. Only trusted vassals and bondsmen were allowed to enter the tower. During the later Middle Ages, French castles began the transformation. These castles were transformed from formidable and protective strong hold, to elegant and sophisticated chateau. The cottage is a small house with a single story. Is like a small ranch with an attic chamber space above the first floor. A cottage is typically used as seasonal home for vacation, holiday for a little time of leisure. In the same time the cottage can be used as a second dwelling on a property.
